            Joe,

            Thanks, that worked great.  Now I can find my syntax errors

            I'll keep working this a little and then submit.

            Hi Patrick,

            I replicated the error on a fresh centos7 install.  It appears the error is coming from missing the docbook5-style-xsl docbook5-schema docbook5-schemas packages.  I would make sure that you have all of the following packages installed:

            yum install fop libxml2 libxslt docbook5-style-xsl docbook5-schema docbook5-schemas

            Installing that basic set on a fresh centos7 image allows me to run make check, make html, and make pdf.

            Thanks.

            Joe

            Thanks, Peter - I'm starting with updating the obvious bits (usage, lists of options, etc), and then, yes, I'll drop the general guidance in there somewhere and we can try to figure out where would be good.

            Joseph,

            centos7 - That error is from make check:

            [build@centbuild02 lustre-manual]$ make check
            xmllint --noout --xinclude --noent --relaxng ./index.xml
            ./index.xml:-1: Relax-NG parser error : xmlRelaxNGParse: ./index.xml is empty
            Relax-NG schema ./index.xml failed to compile

            Perhaps I'm missing some tool that make is supposed to be calling?

            Hi Patrick,

            What platform are you attempting to build on?  I would try to build the html version first as I have seen issues with missing packages when attempting to build a pdf for the first time.

            make check && make html

            Thanks.

            Joe

            jgmitter any advice for Patrick?

            paf I would suggest adding what content you have first and listing any uncertainties about where to place the content. Then we can iterate towards something we can integrate into the manual.

            Attempting to follow the instructions from here:

            https://wiki.hpdd.intel.com/display/PUB/Making+changes+to+the+Lustre+Manual+source

            I ran in to this:

            [build@centbuild02 lustre-manual]$ make check && make pdf
            xmllint --noout --xinclude --noent --relaxng ./index.xml
            ./index.xml:-1: Relax-NG parser error : xmlRelaxNGParse: ./index.xml is empty
            Relax-NG schema ./index.xml failed to compile

            I didn't check out a local branch (yet), but that seems unlikely to be causing this...?

            Yeah, I need to get moving on this.  Looking at the manual, I see there's now some ladvise documentation in there!

            I've got some stuff written up, I'll see about integrating it.  A little tricky figuring out quite where to put some of it.

            When do you expect to have some content suitable for the manual for lock-ahead? We could help with the formatting if you have the content in some other kind of format (Word, RTF, etc)
