We see a similar failure for sanityn 101a usually in review-dne testing. See the following for logs:

A little manual testing suggests that setting dirty_writeback_centisecs does not reliably prevent writeback.  I can't quite get my head around it, but sometimes - even on an otherwise idle system! - I see immediate writeback when it is set to 0.

Not sure what the solution is, but thought I'd drop that in there.

And +1 on master:

https://jira.whamcloud.com/browse/LU-11752
Pretty sure this is a dupe of LU-11752.

Comment by James Nunez (Inactive) [ 03/May/19 ]

We are still seeing sanityn test 101a fail with 'Found WRITE RPC but expect none' for master 2.12.53.1; https://testing.whamcloud.com/test_sets/d3fd6ad0-6dc2-11e9-a6f9-52540065bddc.

I'm not sure if LU-11752 should be reopened instead of this one. This failure is for SLES ldiskfs, not ZFS.

ON b2_12, the future 2.12.6, we see this error for RHEL 7.9 ldiskfs testing at https://testing.whamcloud.com/test_sets/7ca2f5bf-c8a0-463d-bb2f-a209513c376c

Comment by Andreas Dilger [ 25/Jun/21 ]

This is is failing 10% of all test runs, 67 times in the past 4 weeks.

Comment by Andreas Dilger [ 07/Jul/21 ]

This is still failing about 10% of all runs, starting on 2021-03-01.

Between 2021-01-01 and 2021-02-28, it only failed 4 times, once per week in January for full-patchless test sessions, and not in February at all. From 2021-03-01 to about 2021-05-29 it is failing about 8 times per week for patch review test runs, and since 2021-05-29 it is failing about 5 times per day.
