Note this is not optional for us. Most of our file systems across the center are currently 2.8fe; all are currently running RHEL 7.4 but need to be upgraded to RHEL 7.5 to conform with our security pollicy. Clients are almost all 2.8fe.

We don't have any local patches for kernel updates in our stack. You can see our stack in the lustre-release-fe-llnl project in gerrit, which we push our tags to. Our current internal 2.8 release is built from 2.8.2_1.chaos.

While you work on getting ldiskfs built and tested under RHEL 7.5 (we only run servers on x86_64, FWIW), I built and am testing 2.8fe with ZFS backend on RHEL 7.5.

This is my stack at the moment:

  • 81e5e6c (HEAD) Disable ldiskfs build - temporary
  • e5c02eb LU-10565 osd: use readdir while iterate is kabi_extend
  • a6791dc LU-9183 libcfs: handle dump_trace() and related callbacks removal
  • 041becb LU-4199 libcfs: add wrapper of dump_trace()
  • 5221a23 (tag: 2.8.2_1.chaos) LU-7860 ldlm: revert part of commit 657bbc49

Which builds, and is at least minimally functional, but may well not be fully correct.
