 Description

Hi,
I have to simple questions:
1) Will lustre 2.12.4 client/server run on Centos 7.8 just fine ? I didn't see it as a support version in the documentation.
2) When do you think lustre 2.12.5 will come out ?
Thanks,
Mike

Michael

We are working on a 2.12.5 release ATM that will support Centos 7.8. Our WIP is viewable at https://git.whamcloud.com/?p=fs/lustre-release.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/b2_12 . The exact timing of the release is somewhat dependent on what issues are found during testing but we are aiming to have something out this month

Regards

Peter

Thanks Peter, and do you know what version of MLNX OFED will be supported for Lustre 2.12.5 ?

Comment by Peter Jones [ 05/May/20 ]

We are deliberating between MOFED 5.0.2 and an as-yet-unreleased MOFED 4.9.x version that I had heard was coming out. Do you have any preference in this regard?

I don't have a preference. Being that we use Lustre for much of our large multi-pedabyte storage deployments, I would pick the version that will provide maximum stability and performance, but would lean more towards stability

Hi Peter, just to update this - we are installing MLNX OFED 4.7-1.0.0.1 on our lustre FS server and on our lnet routers. So, if you can support that version too with lustre 2.12.5 that would be great.

Michael

We can definitely be flexible with variation on kernel and MOFED and will work on reported issues, but want to make clear that our testing will be focused on MOFED 4.9 so it would be prudent to do some testing yourself before going into production.

Peter, ok thanks. BTW, do you have a release date for support for Centos 7.8 ? We are hitting against systems we are trying to install with Centos 7.8 and no lustre support. Thanks.

We tagged RC1 yesterday if you are interesting in testing it out. The exact timeline for the release will depend on how testing goes.
