CentOS 6.3 throughout, Lustre 2.3.54 Servers (OSS, MDS, MGS) (selinux disabled), 1.8.8 Client (selinux enabled)

 Description   

Lustre 2.3.54 Client with selinux enabled does not exhibit this crash.

Setup:

  • All CentOS 6.3 VMware images (x86_64)

Shared MDS/MGS on one VM - lustre-2.3.54-2.6.32_279.5.1.el6_lustre.x86_64
Single OSS - lustre-2.3.54-2.6.32_279.5.1.el6_lustre.x86_64

Client that crashed - lustre-client-1.8.8.60-wc1_2.6.32_279.5.1.el6.x86_64_g5a16f88

Steps to reproduce:
While test LU-2241
1?) create symlink with path of exactly 60 char long
2) Mount created FS on 1.8 client
3) ls in mounted directory -> CRASH

Unfortunately we will not be fixing selinux support for the 1.8 client.

Current Lustre 1.8 users are required to disable selinux in their kernel, and fixing the client code would be too much change for the stable 1.8 release, which is only receiving critical bug fixes for customers at this point.
