Uploaded new patchsets that perform the operation via a dedicated function. Abandoned and re-opened gerrits for b2_4 and b2_1 as these were accidentally sharing the same change-id as the one against master. master is still at: http://review.whamcloud.com/#/c/6998/ |

Landed for 2.4.1 and 2.5. This will be included in a 2.1.7 if need be. |
