 Description

Google is shutting down OpenID 2.0 support on April 20, 2015, and instead offering OAuth 2.0 (OpenID Connect).

Lustre gerrit users that employ Google for sign in are starting to see this message:

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6135882

More details are here:

https://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OpenID

Hopefully the gerrit folks will support the new authentication method soon, and we will then need to upgrade Lustre's gerrit instalation.

According to the Gerrit developers, OpenID Connect will not be supported, so anyone using google for their OpenID login will need to find another OpenID provider. Examples of other OpenID providers given:

https://help.launchpad.net/YourAccount/OpenID It was pointed out that the OpenStack project requires you to use Launchpad as your OpenID provider. Probably prevents people from the mistake of "Which OpenID did I use?" and thus creating duplicate accounts.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/OpenID for those that may have Fedora credentials; probably not many Lustre contributors.

So, unless somebody writes an OpenID Connect plugin for Gerrit (possible, but there is nothing in progress right now) we will need to have all Google users migrate to another OpenID provider.
