Description

Meta-data that is published with the Deb files is in-line below. This needs review, particularly:

Meta-data for the Deb packages needs to be updated to reflect Whamcloud as maintainer.

Kernel version numbers that these patches relate to needs to be verified.

Lustre is a scalable, secure, robust, highly-available cluster file system. It is maintained by Sun Microsystems, Inc.

and available from http://www.lustre.org Lustre servers require a number of patches to the core Linux kernel, mostly to export new functions, add features to ext3, and add a new locking path to the VFS. This package provides these patches for kernel versions 2.6.18, 2.6.21 and 2.6.22 on i386, amd64, powerpc and ia64 architectures.

For Lustre clients, you will also need to build a lustre-modules package, using the lustre-source package and module-assistant.

I should have included that this ticket specifically references:

linux-patch-lustre_2.0.59-1_all.deb

However, meta-data in:

lustre-source_2.0.59-1_all.deb

Also requires attention.

By extension, the _amd64 packages should also be reviewed.

After discussion on the skype channel: Deb based distros are not supported by the patch sets above.

Deb based distros only have the patch-less client to consider currently.

Richard, where exactly did the linux-patch-lustre_2.0.59-1_all.deb and lustre-source_2.0.59-1_all.deb debs that you were referring to in comment 2 come from?

It's easy enough to s/Sun Microsystems/Whamcloud/ in the metadata, but I wonder where our packages should be directing people to download from? lustre.org would not be a source of our packages. But do we really have anywhere canonical to point people to other than letting them grovel through Jenkins finding packages?

The changeset 66925cf4f325f3951d7bcb8fb9104e2cda4ee98e does not match the one reviewed in gerrit. It contains an accidentally removed closed curly bracket that breaks the build of mkfs_lustre.c

Autotest is failing with this;

/usr/lib64/lustre/tests/test-framework.sh: line 389: load_module_llite/llite_lloop: No such file or directory

I think you'll need to pull in ~~LU-409~~ to fix this problem - I'm working on some info from Yu Jian here so if it's not clear please ask her.
