Error to be resolved is:

 $ lfs quota .          
Unexpected quotactl error: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Disk quotas for user ndauchy (uid 30758):
     Filesystem  kbytes   quota   limit   grace   files   quota   limit   grace
              .     [0]     [0]     [0]       -     [0]     [0]     [0]       -
Some errors happened when getting quota info. Some devices may be not working or deactivated. The data in "[]" is inaccurate.

This is confusing for users where there are several different file system types (particularly NFS and Lustre).

The "lfs" command should check the type of the file system and return a useful error message like "this command is only valid on Lustre file systems".
