The main question isn't whether we format new filesystems with extents, but rather whether any filesystems exist that have block-mapped files for some reason? For example, we format the MDT without extents, and it has regular files (llog and OI files). Also, with Data-on-MDT the MDT will start doing bulk IO, so I think this patch would break the OSD code. |

Andreas gave good reason to not delete extents support on OSS. I am closing this issue. |
