 Description

Hello~ Recently, I have question about the MAX osts size..

According to lustre manual.

Page 4, Max OSTs Size 256TB (zfs) ==> 232.831TiB

Page 32 , Max OSTs Size 256TiB (zfs) ==> 281.475TB

Would you please guide which is correct? Can I use 256TiB? or use 256TB?

Thanks..

Additional questions.
If Lustre is ldiskfs, Is it 128TB per OST?  Is 128 TiB correct?

Comment by Andreas Dilger [ 21/Aug/18 ]

It is binary size limits, so TiB.

Thanks. That means Binary. then actual limit is below  right?

128TiB = 140.737TB , Max Ldiskfs size limit

256TiB = 281.475TB , Max ZFS size limit

There is not really an upper size limit for ZFS, but this is the recommended maximum for management and performance reasons. The ZFS filesystems could be larger if there is not a need for high performance, just capacity, but we have never tested such large filesystems ourselves, nor do we know of any sites using larger ZFS filesystems.
