[LU-10983] sanity tests fails with 'ls: reading directory *: Input/output error'

On PPC architectures, we see several sanity tests that call ls fail with "Input/output error". These tests are sanity test_17f, 18, 22, 24v, 24A, 32b, 32d, 32f, 32h, 48a, 48b, 48c, 51a, 51b, 56ab, and 154a. Looking at the results at https://testing.hpdd.intel.com/test_sets/3edca09e-4684-11e8-b45c-52540065bddc, the test_log output looks similar for all of these tests
