It is however possible due to Distribution similarity of Ubuntu and Debian and already provided DEB package infrastructure to build Debian Client packages. The kernel module package directory (KMP_MODDIR) is currently set in debian/rules as "updates", however Ubuntu uses path "updates/kernel".
