https://jira.whamcloud.com This file is an XML representation of an issue en-us 9.4.14 940014 05-12-2023 https://jira.whamcloud.com/browse/LU-12561 Lustre <p>The master branch is no longer building for RHEL6.x kernels, so at a very minimum we shouldn't list RHEL 6.9 and 6.10 as "known to build" in <tt>lustre/ChangeLog</tt> and <tt>lustre/kernel_patches/which_patch</tt> for the 2.13 release, as this will otherwise lead to confusion. The same may be true of SLES11, but since it is a newer kernel version it may still build and should not be removed until after RHEL6 removal is finished.</p> <p>To fully remove RHEL6.x/SLES11 support, several additional tasks are needed:</p> <ul class="alternate" type="square"> <li>remove kernel series files from <tt>lustre/kernel_patches/series</tt> and <tt>ldiskfs/kernel_patches/series/</tt></li> <li>remove kernel patches from <tt>lustre/kernel_patches/patches/</tt> and <tt>ldiskfs/kernel_patches/patches/</tt> <b>that are not used by later kernels</b></li> <li>remove <tt>libcfs/autoconf/</tt>, <tt>lnet/autoconf/</tt>, and <tt>lustre/autoconf/</tt> checks for older kernels in kernel version order, starting with the oldest version and working toward the latest version that is still supported.</li> </ul> <p>It is possible to use the <tt>contrib/scripts/clearpatches.sh</tt> script to verify which patches are unused after the series files are removed.</p> LU-12561
