https://jira.whamcloud.com This file is an XML representation of an issue en-us 9.4.14 940014 05-12-2023 https://jira.whamcloud.com/browse/LU-17426 Lustre <p>It should be possible to allow cross-directory rename of regular files (strictly, any non-directory) on the same MDT without holding the BigFilesystemLock (BFL), as file renames cannot change the directory hierarchy.</p> <p>That should improve the performance for these rename operations, and reduce contention between local MDT file renames in different parts of the directory tree. </p> <p>That would leave directory and cross-MDT renames needing the BFL, which should be an increasingly small fraction of all rename operations.</p> LU-17426
