When a user modify directory content on a lustre client these changes don't apper on share until the f5 key is pressed on windows client. Otherwise, when same operation is executed directly on the node that export filesystem (a xen virtual machine) the share reflect the changes immediately. Otherwise if you run the same script on the same directory on the client that export the filesystem via samba the content is updated immediately. I think that may be a problem of cache coerency. Regards</p> <p>In the aim to collect more info with the attached script I created files on a client while on the samba server I run the command watch -n1 "ls dir_to_watch" to ensure that the server see the files: server refresh correctly, but the pc don't see the files until the f5 key is pressed.</p> <p>After reading the description and comments carefully, I redid the experiment but failed to reproduce the problem.</p> <p>My local test environment is windows7 + samba3.0.33 + lustre1.8.9 (kernel 2.6.18-348.3.1.el5).</p> <p>My steps are here:<br/> 1. add <span class="error">&#91;test&#93;</span> to smb.conf as follows</p> <div class="preformatted panel" style="border-width: 1px;"><div class="preformattedContent panelContent"> <pre>[test] comment = For testing only, please path = /mnt/lustre/smb_test read only = no guest ok = yes </pre> </div></div> <p>2. mount lustre to /mnt/lustre, and mkdir /mnt/lustre/smb_test<br/> 3. restart /etc/init.d/smb service to share /mnt/lustre/smb_test with the windows7 pc<br/> 4. cp genfiles to /mnt/lustre/smb_test, and run that<br/> 5. find file.$TIMESTAMP.rpc can be updated immediately on the pc.</p> <p>If possible, could you please provide your steps in detail?
