Currently NI will remain on the zombie list until all such messages are addressed since they hold on a ref, but it would be cleaner to remove those messages, to avoid NI being stuck on the zombie list for a long time, which also has a ripple effect of holding onto the api_mutex for extended periods of time.</p> LU-6040
