I am studying the Lustre File System and need re-build the 2.9 Lustre with Linux Kernel 4.1.38.
But, the ldiskfs module has so many patches for ext3/ext4 only on Linux kernel 3.12 or earlier. Can the ldiskfs support Linux kernel 4.1.38 or later versions?

Alternately, you can use ZFS for the back-end disk storage, since that doesn't require any kernel/ext4 patching at all.
</comment>

     Thank your for your great information. And since I am an newbie of the Lustre, can you tell me how to set the Lustre to use ZFS instead of the ldiskfs ?
</comment>

In the version 2.9 Lustre, there is only server source codes for SLES12SP1.Where can I find the SLES12SP2 support?
</comment>

I have found some description about run Lustre on the ZFS as the back fs : http://wiki.lustre.org/Lustre_with_ZFS_Install
It seems that this is the way using ZFS instead of ldiskfs. Thanks you again !!!
</comment>
