The patch for LU-10100 swabbed the big-endian format layout on client side. In this ticket, we need make a separate patch for the MDS to swab the layout received from the client if it is in big-endian format. This will simplify interop for deployment on systems where there are lots of PPC clients that have not been upgraded.
