All patches required by master OFD have landed. Closing this ticket.

The essential patches for 2.3 have all landed to master. I'll probably submit one more patch to add a comment to refresh_disk(), as Brian suggested. (I was to do so in 2981, but the patch was landed in a blink.)

It is decided that the changes shall land to master before being considered for b2_1. Hence, the b2_1 series will be refreshed later, after the master series is more or less accepted.

These fixes should be landed to both b2_1 and master (and possibly b2_2), to ensure that automated interop testing works between the major releases in the future.
