It would be useful for diagnostic purposes to track statistics for average file size/blocks, component count, stripe count for each file opened on the MDS so that it is possible to collect this during debugging to get an idea of the active file and directory layout in use, independent of the filesystem default layout that may not be in use in different parts of the filesystem.
