creating enough files in a directory causes '.' to disappear

    Description

      2.5.56-43-ga641c6e

      Using llmount.sh followed by 'ls -al /mnt/lustre' I see '.', '..', and '.lustre' as expected.

      Running sanity.sh by the time I get to the mid 50s I see that '.' has disappeared.
