            Not 100% sure but this issue seems to pop up less on el7 and more on other distros. I'm wondering if there's some difference in runtime execution environment that is impacting this test.

            I note that el7 uses a bash version of 4.2.x. Other distros use earlier versions, sometimes much earlier. Don't know if that really matters.

            it's keeping LU-8754 and LU-8758 from landing on master.
            it may be causing -test results and blocking other good mods from landing too.

            The failed test only went in recently, in http://review.whamcloud.com/19645. This doesn't explain the failure.
