      I found a typo in Lustre manual section 14.8.6. Returning a Deactivated OST to Service:

      client# lctl set_param osc.fsname-OSTnumber-*.active=0

      Should be:

      client# lctl set_param osc.fsname-OSTnumber-*.active=1
