Fix false 'uninitialized scalar variable' errors found by Coverity

    Description

      The Coverity tool found some false uninitialized scalar variable errors in the Lustre code.
      In order to quiet future Coverity runs, I will propose a patch that comments and annotates those false positives in the Lustre code.
