    Description

      Here is a new defect that aims at addressing Null pointer dereference errors found by Coverity in the Lustre code.

      I will propose a patch to address the issues.

          Hi,

          After reviews, I removed unnecessary assertions from the patch. As the resulting patch is a lot smaller, I integrated all the modifications into the patch LU-2217, pushed here:
          http://review.whamcloud.com/4720
